Appreciation Of Poem |
I envied her, she seemed so gay, and I wished I was so fair,Â
When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle,Â
She had one leg and wore a crutch, but as she passed - a smile,Â
O God forgive me when I whine,Â
I've two legs, the world is mine.Â
And then I stopped to buy some sweets,Â
The lad who sold them had such charm,Â
I talked with him, he seemed so calm and,Â
If I were late, it would do no harm,Â
And as I left he said to me " I thank you, you have been so kind. "
Its nice to talk with folks like you, You see,Â
I'm blind,Â
O God forgive me when I whine,Â
I've two eyes, the world is mine.Â
Later walking down the street, I saw
A child with eyes of blue,Â
He stood and watched the other play,Â
It seemed he knew not what to do,Â
I stopped a moment, then I said, why don't
You join the others dear,Â
He looked ahead without a word, and then,Â
I knew, he could not hear,Â
O God forgive me when I whine,Â
I've two ears, the world is mine.Â
With legs to take me where I'll go,Â
With eyes to see the sunset's glow,Â
With ears I bear what I would no,Â
O God forgive me when I whine,Â
I'm blessed, indeed, the world is mine

 A Teenager's Prayer
Each day brings new beginnings,Â
Decisions I must make,Â
I am the only one to choose,Â
The road that I will take,Â
I can choose to take the road of life,Â
That leads to great success,Â
Or travel down to the darkened road,Â
That leads to great distress,Â
Please open up my eyes, dear Lord
That I might clearly see,Â
Help me stand for what is right
Bring out the best in me,Â
Help, Lord, to just say 'no',Â
When temptation comes my way,Â
That I might keep my body clean,Â
And fit for life each day,Â
When my teenage years are over,Â
I know that I will see,Â
That life is lived its very best,Â
With you walking next to me.Â

Basketful of Moonlight
O moon,Â
Give me moonlight,Â
Basketful or two baskets full,Â
With seeds of moonlight,Â
From the city to my village,Â
On the sides of the path,Â
I want to sow many,Â
Small - small moons of light,Â
The whole village goes to the city,Â
Daily to work,Â
It becomes dark on its way back,Â
As my village is quite far,Â
The route is tough and full of,Â
Snakes and scorpions,Â
Neither bus nor car plies,Â
When my father returns home,Â
I am asleep,Â
And he goes back early in the morning,Â
While I am sleeping,Â
O moon
Give me a basket of moonlight,Â
On loan I want to light the dark route,Â
So that my father return early,Â
I too want to hear fairy tales,Â
And stories from him,Â
O moon give me a basket of moonlight,Â
I want to sow the seeds of moon,Â
On the side of the path.Â
